Game Review | PS4 | God of War

Recently I played the God of War for the first time. Actually the title of this game is the God of War 4. But, it hasn't the numbering of 4. The reason is because the developer claims a comment that this brand new God of War is totally different from the past series.
I have never played the past series of God of War. However, I did search and compare some videos related to God of War. I could know that this God of War is a completely different game from the past series.

The God of War that informs a new start from 2018 is an action adventure genre that the father and son take the risky journey to spray her remains at the peak of the world's highest mountain.

I think the keywords of this game are the Shoulder View Action, the Axe & Shield Skills, the Growth as Father and Son, the Expansion of a world view.

At first I felt weird about the Shoulder View. Because it is usually use in TPS(Third Person Shooting) games.

Among the games I've played, there are like Gears of War, Dead Space, and The Last of Us.

The Shoulder View coincides with the center point of the screen that the player is looking at and the hit point of a projectile. Through this, the player can clearly recognize the feedback at the time of hitting. And, it helps to focus on the situation and the enemy in front of your eyes.

In the GoW, a character can throw an axe, but technically, it is a close-range combat game. So, I felt strange. However, this novel attempt showed the effect that I had never imagined. The hitting sense was great in the combat and the immersion was also very high. And, this Shoulder View has a fantastic harmony with the Axe & Shield skills, and it created a new action style.

The Axe & Shield Skills seem to combine the Thor and Captain America of the Marvel Movies. The Axe is not only wielded but also flew to the enemy and back again. The Shield was able to bounce anything.

The details and depth of the action skills are excellent, and I was able to mount a rune gem with various action skills in the weapon. So it made me able to use the action skills of the weapon that I want to combine.

These combination of the action skills are necessary to fight against strong enemies with complex patterns. Maybe it may have a formula(or a answer), but it was very interesting that player have to find out own combination.

You will understand at once if you meet a Valkyrie in the game.

The Growth as Father and Son is a core of narrative in this game. After the boy's Mother died, These two roles had feel awkward to communicate with each other. However, They realize their own role and begin to express themselves to each other. - a father as the Father, a son as the Son -.

Then, they both protect, watch, and understand each other. Finally, the father and son develop into a very close relationship than before. I was very impressed that I could feel the process fully, and so I think this game is great work.

Let's talk about the Expansion of a world view, the past series was based on Greek mythology. By the way, this work expanded to Norse mythology. However, this world is not simply an extension, but it has a great detail. Of course, I was not a mythologist, but most of the settings seemed to be sufficiently plausible.

Furthermore, one character in the game referred to the main character as 'the god of another world'. To overstate it, "Is not this God of War able to deal with all the myths of this world?" I thought.

I look forward to showing the world beyond my imagination in the next work.
